Six Ramsar sites are designated  as wetlands of international importance.  Five of these sites are  along the coast and a sixth one located inland. The management of Ramsar Sites is interdisciplinary. Each site has representatives of all agencies with a stake in the site, including local people, chiefs, District Assemblies (Local Government) and recognised women and other groups serving on its Management Committee. Below is a table showing information on these ramsar sites.
