Sustainable Management of Components of Biodiversity

Ghana's strategy for the sustainable management of the components of Biological Diversity is based on some key issues, which have been outlined below:

The following have to be considered in the sustainable use of biodiversity in Ghana:

Acquisition, compilation and dissemination of scientific knowledge and information;

Impact assessment/precautionary approach;

Assessment of traditional methods of exploitation;

Exploration of new technologies, such as biotechnology; and Conducting biodiversity inventory to ascertain the status of existing biological diversity in the country;

Assessment of what constitutes sustainable levels of exploitation.
